  • Schoolyard Habitat Program.  Schools serving kindergarten through 12th grade students are eligible for funding and may receive up to $8,000 for their projects.  They must be working cooperatively with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to be eligible for funding consideration. (pdf)

  • EDAC's Juried Student & Emerging Artist Show.  Open to all media.  Students may submit up to 3 pieces of artwork.  Artwork may be submitted to EDAC on  July 27 - 30, 2011 from 12:00-5:00pm.  Show Dates are August 2 - September 3, 2011 (pdf)

  • EID is holding holding wastewater and water tours this spring and summer and the wastewater tours are already in progress.  This is a great opportunity for teachers to learn about our water and wastewater systems.(pdf)

  • Gold Country Herb Society Grant Funds for school gardens (pdf)

  • SB 1317 Leno. Truancy This bill would define a chronic truant as any pupil subject to compulsory full-time education or to compulsory continuing education who is absent from school without a valid excuse for 10% or more of the schooldays in one school year, from the date of enrollment to the current date, provided that the appropriate school district officer or employee has complied with specified provisions of law.   • Outstanding Contributions to Literacy Award sponsored by the American Literacy Corporation has been given in the past to K-8 California teachers who have made a significant difference in the lives of their students by increasing literacy levels.  (pdf)

  • California Department of Transportation (CDT) Scholarship.  CDT is offering a $500 scholarship which is competitive and based upon the applicant’s commitment to a career in transportation, academic record, and participation in extra-curricular or community-related activities.  Applications must be postmarked by Thursday, May 26, 2011.   • National Board Certified Teachers, California Department of Education, April 8, 2011 Encourage teachers to accept the challenge of advanced certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).  National Board certification provides high quality professional development for experienced teachers and allows teachers to gauge their skills and knowledge against objective standards of advanced practice.   • DYMO/Mimio is offering a competitive grant to applicants from any K-12 education entity: Enhancing Science and Math Through Interactivity and Collaboration.  The winning applicant will receive 10 MimioTeach interactive systems, 10 MimioPad wireless tablets, and 10 MimioView document cameras for the classrooms in his or her school or district.  In addition, a DYMO/Mimio Teaching and Learning Specialist will provide on-site training in the use of these tools, free of charge.  Application must be submitted on or before May 27, 2011 at 5:00 PM EST.   • $190,000 in YouthTouch matching grants to enhance Math and Science learning. Each year, Goldenrod Research Corp selects up to 20 schools to receive matching grants for a YouthTouch system. YouthTouch, suitable for elementary and middle school students, integrates Math, Science and technology within the framework of the existing curriculum, via hands-on learning activities. The comprehensive package includes robotics and fluid power equipment, instructional materials and on-site teacher training.
