Developer (School) Fees

On January 1, 1987, AB 2926 enacted Government Code sections 65995 and 53080, which authorized school districts to levy a developer fee on new construction, for the purpose of paying their required share of school building construction. The fee is levied based on the square footage of residential and commercial/industrial building that takes place in the districts. Below are the district fees, which include both the elementary and high school districts rates, as of June 18, 2012:

Additions - under 500 s.f. that are attached to an existing dwelling will not be assessed a school fee.  Dwelling space of any size added to an accessory building will be subject to school fees.

Commercial/Industrial - $.47 - $.51 per s.f.

School fees are collected by the El Dorado County Development Services. Please provide a separate check for school fees made payable to El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE).
