El Dorado County Office of Education Personnel Services Department is committed to assisting individuals with obtaining California certification as well as providing credentialing assistance and guidance.
Effective 1/1/2007, all clear credentials must be renewed online through California Commission on Teacher Credentialing's website.
Renewals can be completed up to 1 year PRIOR to the expiration date; however, MUST BE completed PRIOR to the expiration date.

California has three instructional based credentials:
- Multiple Subject (the credential required to teach in a self-contained classroom. Commonly found in the elementary and middle schools).
- Single Subject (the credential required to teach a specific subject, in a departmentalized class. Commonly found in middle school and high school.
- Education Specialist (the credential required to provide instructional service for Special Education; specific disability authorization required):

A fully prepared teacher moving from another state may obtain California Certification based on their out-of-state preparation (additional CA requirements may still be required):
