Certificated Substitute Services

Guest Teacher Services provides substitute teachers to 13 districts as well as County-operated programs in Western El Dorado County.

Due to an oversaturated Substitute Pool, EDCOE currently requires a request from a current El Dorado County School Administrator (or the District Office for the El Dorado Union High School District).  The application will be processed for substituting at the site in which the request came from.  Exception:  those wanting to sub for Special Education or Charter (no request required).

 

INFORMATION NEEDED FOR BECOMING A GUEST TEACHER:

To work as a Guest Teacher, you must hold a valid document authorizing service as a day-to-day substitute teacher. Any California Credential or Permit, based on a Bachelor’s degree and the basic skills examination meets this requirement. If you do not hold a valid California Teaching Credential, you may be eligible to obtain the Emergency 30 Day Substitute Teaching Permit.  Requirements are:

  • Official transcripts showing verification of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Successful completion of CBEST examination
  • LiveScan clearance with California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC’s LiveScan Form)

For individuals working within El Dorado County’s Guest Teacher program, the Substitute Systems Specialist will assist you with obtaining an Emergency 30 Day Substitute Teaching Permit.
