Welcome

The Charter Extended Day program was developed in 1984 to respond to the working parents’ need for quality child care. Located on school campuses, Extended Day provides child care before, during, and after school, as well as school vacations or intersession times with sufficient interest. The programs allow children to go back and forth from school to child care without transportation by the parent. While in this safe, supervised environment, children participate in a variety of educationally enriched activities. School districts in El Dorado County request and host Extended Day programs.

Mission Statement

The Charter Extended Day Program provides safe, high quality, and affordable childcare to students in grades K-8, enrolled in and attending an El Dorado County public school. We cultivate the creative and intellectual promise of each child by offering enhanced educational opportunities in a structured setting where fun and learning go hand-in-hand.

Extended Day Summer 2024

Summer Rates

$150.00 per week per child / includes: snacks, materials, and activities. (Shorter weeks are prorated.)

No payment is required at the time of application. If accepted, a prompt $150 deposit per child will be required. The full amount due, minus the deposit, must be paid by July 1st.

Summer Center Locations and Hours

All Center Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

El Dorado Hills Area/Rescue District: Lake Forest School: Room F4, June 3 – July 31, 2024

Placerville Area: Indian Creek School: Room 14, June 3 – July 31, 2024

El Dorado Hills Area/Buckeye District: Silva Valley School: Room I3, June 10 – July 31, 2024

Swimming will be provided twice a week for all centers (starting week 2).

All Summer Centers Closed: June 19, 2024 and July 4-5, 2024


Application Information*

The application opened on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. and closes promptly on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Priority is given to families actively using an Extended Day Program, placement is not guaranteed. Please note that no applications will be accepted after this deadline.

For current families, any past due balances for the 23-24 school year must be paid prior to start of summer services. 

An email will be sent to all applicants by May 17th, 5:00 p.m. notifying them of their acceptance in the summer program or placement on the waitlist.
